The Taverna was founded in 1953 in the small village Glossa ... ... located in the north of Skopelos island. Aglaia Stamataki and her son Nikos (now in his 90th year) started the Taverna and initially named it "France" as it was mainly french tourists who came to enjoy the traditional special dishes. In 1985 the Taverna was renamed "Agnanti" after its magnificent views over the agean sea and distant mainland. Thanks to the inspired cooking of Stamatis and Maxoula Stamataki (the next generation) and the traditional recipes, the Taverna quickly developed a reputation for its great food and service. It now daily attracts hundred of tourists and locals (Greeks and foreigners alike) . Today the business has passed into a new era of flavor and culinary creation in the hands of Nikos and Stamatis Stamatakis. The restaurant now offers a mixture of traditional recipes and new-inspired dishes, using fresh, organic and local ingredients - combine to give our guests an unforgettable experience. We endeavor to continuously improve our product and services and welcome any ideas or suggestions you may have to offer. Thank you and Kali Oreksi. Agnanti has been recognized as one of the best restaurants in the Aegean
(e.g. by the American Tourist Organization) and has been supported by the EU LEADER II programme, as it occupies a unique position in the Sporades - that of a Traditional Skopelitian Restaurant. In 2003 the restaurant was honored with the Thessaliko Emblem of Quality and in 2004 received the Greek Certificate of Quality. The Taverna's international clientele includes well-know personalities from the spheres of arts, literature and politics. The splendid views and comfortable atmosphere have inspired a number of visitors and critics to write articles, novellas, poems, songs. The Taverna often used to hosts functions and parties, including marriages and christenings.
